Chelsea Ingram is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John R.
Ingram II of Cary, North Carolina. She is the
granddaughter of and Mr. and Mrs. Joe G. Doby of
Morehead City; Mr. and Mrs. John Ingram of Myrtle Beach,
SC.
Chelsea was crowned Miss Johnston County on February 3, 2007. She won
with a vocal and sign language performance of "Only
Love" from the musical "The Scarlet Pimpernel." She has
been a student of voice for 14 years. Along with voice,
Chelsea plays the piano, flute and piccolo. She was a
four-year member of the
Apex Honors Women's Chorus. In
2006, she won the Talent Scholarship Award in the
Apex/Cary Junior Miss Scholarship Pageant. As a fitness
enthusiast, Chelsea has been a cross-county long
distance runner. She is a North Carolina Scholar Athlete
and lettered in sports, academics, and arts throughout
her four years of high school.
Chelsea is attending North Carolina State University and is currently
studying Chemistry, and double majoring in Vocal
Performance through an inter-institutional program at
Meredith College. Her career ambition is to attend
medical school and specialize in Cardiovascular Disease
and Surgery. She is passionate about her career ambition
and platform- "Love your Heart, Love Yourself"- Heart
Disease Prevention and Awareness-because there is heart
on both sides of her family. Chelsea is a spokesperson
for the
Triangle Chapter of the American Heart
Association and has raised thousands of dollars as a
four-year volunteer. She makes weekly appearances to
civic organizations and children's groups, educating and
advocating heart disease awareness and prevention.
Chelsea has participated in the
Triangle Heart Gala held
at the
Embassy Suites in Cary, and is currently on the
American Heart Association's Logistics Committee, which
plans various fund raisers for the
American Heart
Association. Chelsea has also been a volunteer for Dr.
Richard Daw with Wake Heart and Vascular Associates. Her
first official appearance as Miss Johnston County was as
a volunteer at the Harbor Valentines Ball for Domestic
Violence Prevention where she was introduced to many
local dignitaries and sponsors of the Ball. She has been
a guest speaker for the
Johnston County Democratic Women, the Johnston County Business Women's Association,
the
Boys & Girls Club of Wake County, as well as the
Boy's & Girl's Club of Johnston County. She is also a
frequent guest on various
WTSB radio telecasts. She uses
opportunities such as these to reach hundreds of people
with her Heart Healthy Lifestyle message.
Chelsea is honored to represent and serve Johnston County this
year. Her goal is to foster support and growth in the
community for the Miss Johnston County,
Miss North
Carolina, and
Miss America Scholarship Pageant
organizations. Johnston County people and businesses
have answered back with tremendous support of their Miss
Johnston County.
