Outstanding Teen 2007 . . . . Bindhu Pamarthi
Bindhu Pamarthi is the
sixteen year old daughter of Mohan and Latha Pamarthi of
Cary, North Carolina. Bindhu was crowned Miss Johnston
County Outstanding Teen this past February. She is a junior
at the North Carolina School of the Arts where she is
majoring in contemporary dance.
Bindhu is most passionate about creating a healthy environment for
teenagers to learn and grow. In that
light, Bindhu's platform is centered around Teen Alcohol and
Drug Use Prevention. A firm believer that healthy habits are
developed early in life, Bindhu's goal is to educate
teenagers throughout the community about the detrimental
effects of illicit drugs and alcohol on growth and
development. Bindhu hopes to better existing prevention
methods and implement new ones in neglected regions.
Bindhu keeps busy with AP History, Math, and English besides the vigorous
dance curriculum at her school. Bindhu has been involved
with countless organizations including the Cary Teen
Council, Cary's Teen Advisory Board, as President of History
Club, teen representative for BUD TV, the Triangle Indian
Youth Organization and S.A.V.E. She also is a member of the
Ladies in Arts club.
After high school, Bindhu plans to study law and medicine. Bindhu plans
to use her title to impact and inspire as many teenagers as
she can to lead a healthy, smart and enriching lifestyle.
