How Can I Be Miss Johnston County?

Chelsea and Dr. Richard Daw with Wake Heart and
Vascular Associates.

Chelsea volunteers with his practice and has learned so much
about heart disease and treatments.  Chelsea attends North
Carolina State University and is studying Chemistry in the College of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, which happens to be where Dr. Daw began his medical career.  According to Chelsea,  "this
has been the most rewarding part of being a title holder,
discovering through working with heart patients, just how strongly
I want to pursue a career in Cardiovascular Medicine."

American Heart Association

Every two minutes, someone has a heart attack and only half survive.  Heart disease is the number one killer among American
men and women and continues to increase each year.  Heart disease is a reality, whether it is genetic or lifestyle related.  While there is no cure for heart disease, there are ways to reduce your risk of developing it later in life.

Heart disease has been diagnosed on both sides of my family.  I fight for my life each and every day due to my genetic predisposition.  My goal is to reach out to thousands of people by the end of my reign as Miss Johnston County 2007, spreading
the message that it is never too late to begin living a heart-healthy lifestyle.
